Meet the Staff
I am a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a certificate in dental assisting. I have been involved in periodontics for nearly thirty years, twenty-three of which have been with Dr. Bjornson. I enjoy helping our patients understand their periodontal needs and the benefits our office provides to create a healthy mouth that leads to a confident smile.
Though I am not a native of South Carolina, I have lived in the area since childhood. I am married and have three adult children. Outside of work I enjoy my family, friends, cooking and can be often found supporting my husband in his triathlons.
As a registered dental hygienist, I take pride in providing a high level of supportive care to my patients. The profession has allowed me to pursue my early interest in dentistry after my experience with braces as a teenager.
I recently moved to South Carolina from Michigan where I received my Associate Degree of Applied Sciences in Dental Hygiene in 2011. As part of the expanded duties training, I am currently certified in the application of nitrous oxide and local anesthesia. These skills allow me to offer dentistry with optimal comfort.
My interests outside of dentistry include reading, boating, hunting, and of course, shopping!
As the business assistant, I am here to help you coordinate your treatment with your schedule and finances. I recently joined Dr. Bjornson and her staff, but have spent 16 years in other aspects of dentistry, including orthodontics and general dentistry. It is exciting to add periodontics as part of making beautiful smiles for our patients.
Mount Pleasant has been my home since I was just 5 years old, and I love to live here. Most of my time outside of work is spent with my husband and 3 children, ages 16, 13, and 19 months. When I have time for myself, I look forward to going to the beach or gym, and cooking.
I am one of Dr. Bjornson’s surgical assistants, providing our patients with comprehensive care in surgery and beyond. I enjoy educating and partnering with each patient to help them achieve and maintain a healthy smile. After completing my dental assisting degree in 2006, I spent my career in restorative dentistry for 6 years until I joined Dr. Bjornson in 2013. Here I have expanded my knowledge of patient care into periodontics to improve the overall wellness of our patients.
I moved to Charleston in 2007 from Michigan and have fallen in love with the area and the people! Outside of work, I spend my time with my boyfriend, family and friends, enjoying beautiful Charleston, playing kickball, and baking.
